1st Annual South Florida Be Like Brit 5k Walk for Haiti!
OUR STORY: As you may remember, the 2010 earthquake was a devastating one, with over 300,000 lives lost. A group of Lynn University students and professors were in Haiti on a mission trip when that earthquake occurred, and half of their team perished. This included Britney Gengel - Brit's parents built an orphanage in her honor and also started a home building project. Their office in Brit's hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts has been established for 8 years now.. and we just opened an office here in Delray Beach, close to Lynn University.
OUR MISSION: Our mission is “to continue the compassion of Britney Gengel by serving the children of Haiti through sustaining a safe, nurturing home rooted in the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love while developing a sense of social responsibility, community involvement, and unconditional love.” All of our 66 children each have a bed to sleep in at night, three meals a day, an amazing education, a connection to their faith and, most importantly, a loving and caring family. Your support through these events will help us to continue the work we’re doing in Haiti, not only for our 66 children, but for the community surrounding our Children’s Home in Grand Goave, Haiti. Our organization employs over 100 Haitian staff, we provide 1,000 gallons of filtered water to our community each day, and our outreach program (our Britsionarys) have built over 100 homes for some of our neighbors who were still living in temporary shelters.
OUR EVENT: With our expansion into South Florida, we invite you to join us for our 1st Annual 5k Fundraiser! This is a great event for kids, students who would like to earn community service, individuals, families, schools, businesses, and churches! Included in registration is our official walk tshirt, light lunch, activities, and more.
