Event Description:
All In For Firefighters is a group of firefighters and community members dedicated to making a difference in Palm Beach County. The group raises funds through the 9th Annual Butch Smith Poker Classic on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Palm Beach Kennel Club.
What started as an event to benefit Captain Butch Smith, a Firefighter in his battle with cancer, has evolved into a fundraiser which benefits four local charities: Firefighter Cancer Support Network - Florida Chapter, Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Benevolent Fund, Inc., Quantum House and Rooney’s Golf Foundation. Last year 409 participated and $30,000 was raised for the charities.
The tournament takes place at Palm Beach Kennel Club and kicks-off Sunday, January 29 at noon. In attendance, this year is Jerry Yang, the 2007 Main Event Champion at the World Series of Poker. In addition, there will be raffles, a silent auction and an opening ceremony with the Firefighters Pipes & Drums. For more information and to register, please visit allinforfirefighters.com.
About All In For Fire Fighters: All In For Firefighters was founded in 2008 and organized the first Annual Butch Smith Poker Classic in honor of Captain Butch Smith, a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Captain/Firefighter/Paramedic diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer with no cure. Butch was only given a few years to live, so his brothers and sisters joined forces to help him fight. He only received funds the in the first annual event, the fundraiser now exists solely to give back. - Florida Firefighter Cancer Support Network, Florida Chapter is active in supporting firefighters and their families that face life-threatening cancer.
- Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Benevolent Fund, Inc. provides assistance to the community and fire service members in their time of need.
- Quantum House is caring and supportive home that lessens the burden for families whose children are receiving treatment in Palm Beach County for a serious medical condition.
- Rooney’s Golf Foundation, Inc. holds annual fund-raising events for locally based charities in Palm Beach County. The events include a golf tournament, 5K run/walk, poker tournament and luncheon.
