Alexander W. Dreyfoos will be honored as the Chamber's 2014 Community Leader of the Year. An engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur, he founded Photo Electronics Corporation, a company that specializing in high-tech photographic equipment and owned and operated WPEC TV 12. Mr. Dreyfoos' most noteworthy philanthropic achievements include founding the Palm Beach County Cultural Council and the Dreyfoos Hall of the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. He is well known for making the largest donation in history to a Florida public school, which was renamed the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. He was the first person named to the Board of Trustees of The Scripps Research Institute following the organizations expansion into Florida.
