Event Description:

R. Dev Bhardwaj, MD, PhD, FRCSC, FACS, is a fellowship-trained pediatric neurosurgeon, and leads the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital’s pediatric neurosurgery program – the only program between Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando.  With more than 18 years of neurosurgery experience, he specializes in general pediatric neurosurgery, brain tumor surgery, biology and much more. Dr. Bhardwaj has also completed various research projects, published numerous academic articles, and led many neurological programs at children’s hospitals throughout the country, including Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Sanford Children’s Hospital. He graduated medical school from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, and completed his internship and residency in neurosurgery at the University of Toronto. Dr. Bhardwaj also completed a PhD in molecular biology at the Karolinska Institute, in Stockholm, Sweden.  Adding to his extensive education and training, he finished a cancer stem cell research fellowship at Sanford Burnham Institute in La Jolla, CA, and a clinical pediatric neurosurgery fellowship from Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgeons.
 
Dr. Bhardwaj has won numerous awards during his medical career. In 2014, he won the Phoenix Business Journal’s Healthcare Hero Award for Medical Innovation on DBS and immunotherapy and was awarded a Certificate of Special Arizona Congressional Recognition based on biomedical work performed in Arizona. He was awarded the 2009 K.G. McKenzie Memorial Prize for excellence in Clinical Research from the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation. 
 
Dr. Bhardwaj will be discussing the pediatric neurosurgery program at Palm Beach Children’s Hospital. He will cover the program’s basics, including conditions treated, available treatment options and the advanced technology that is only available in all of South Florida at Palm Beach Children’s Hospital.
