Cancer Treatment Centers of America® Receives 2018 Bulldog PR Award

BOCA RATON, Fla., April 4, 2018 Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), a national network of comprehensive cancer care facilities, received the 2018 Bulldog PR Gold Award in the Best Healthcare Campaign category for Prostate Pep Talk. A collaborative public awareness initiative between CTCA®, the National Football League Alumni Association (NFLA) and LabCorp, Prostate Pep Talk used the influencer power of NFL legends Herm Edwards, Dick Vermeil and Bill Cowher to help educate men about the importance of getting screened for prostate cancer. More than 700 qualified men got screened in September 2017 as a direct result of the fall campaign.

Articles about the program appeared in such prestigious outlets as The Washington Post, USA Today and on FoxSports.com. The social media campaign generated more than 15 million impressions on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The Bulldog PR Awards recognize outstanding public relations and communications campaigns and are a combination of Bulldog's digital, social media and media relations awards programs, the only such award nationwide selected exclusively by journalists.

“According to the Centers for Disease Control, prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer among men in the United States,” said Michael Myers, Senior Vice President of External Affairs & Communications for CTCA and a prostate cancer survivor himself. “We are honored to have received this coveted recognition by the journalism community and, most importantly, to have educated the public and likely saved lives through this program, a true collaboration between CTCA, the NFLA and LabCorp, which provided the screening sites.”

“On behalf of the NFL Alumni, I would like to congratulate our partner, CTCA, for this prestigious award.  We are proud to work with CTCA and LabCorp as we continue to raise awareness about the importance of getting screened,” said Elvis Gooden, NFL Alumni CEO. “We need to continue the battle to improve the health and lives of men across the country, and we look forward to the ongoing success of our partnership.”
