Jones Foster is proud to announce that Litigation & Dispute Resolution Shareholder, Grasford Smith, has been appointed to the American Heart Association’s Palm Beach County Board of Directors and will serve as the Chair of the Leadership Development Committee. Grasford will work alongside many notable business and community leaders to lead the fight against heart disease and stroke and further AHA’s mission, “to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.”

The American Heart Association, founded in 1924, has become the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease.  Millions of passionate supporters, volunteers, survivors, partners, and a global network of leading scientists and like-minded organizations, have joined together to deliver life-saving information and programs to clinical facilities, businesses, schools, and homes in over 80 countries.

“I am honored to support the American Heart Association and all of the fantastic work that they do,” says Grasford. “Heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death for all Americans, and the statics show that the risk of getting those diseases are even higher for African-Americans. With friends and family that have been affected, this is a cause dear to my heart. Furthermore, I am proud to stand with an organization that is committed to ensuring its mission has a shared impact across America’s diverse population.”

While Palm Beach County ranks below the national average for high blood pressure, smoking rates, and obesity, there are still challenges and opportunities to build healthier communities.   Volunteers, donors, and participants are invited to support upcoming community events, including the West Palm Beach HeartWalk, Go Red for Women, Strokes For Stroke, and the Annual Palm Beach Heart Ball.

Grasford is actively involved in several community organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Anquan Boldin Foundation, Urban League of Palm Beach County, and Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. He concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, cybersecurity and transactional matters, and represents a diverse clientele, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, athletic leagues, technology companies, and a United States Congressman, in addition to a variety of small and medium-sized businesses.
