West Palm Beach marketing and publishing company, StarGroup Books, announces that local senior advocate, radio show host, and author, Scott Greenberg has been chosen as a Finalist in the 2018 Next Generation Indie Book Awards for his book entitled, OH MY GOD, I’M GETTING OLDER and So Is My Mom, 2nd edition.
As the largest not-for-profit awards program honoring independently published books, The Next Generation Indie Book Awards was established to recognize and honor the most exceptional independently published books each year. It is considered to be the equivalent of a Sundance award in the publishing world.
The first edition of OH MY GOD, I’M GETTING OLDER and So Is My Mom, published in 2014, was also chosen as a winner in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. The ongoing demand for his book combined with notable changes to policies, legislation, and the healthcare system prompted Mr. Greenberg to release the 2nd edition to include new information and four additional chapters.
Through his work and the hundreds of interviews that he has conducted with physicians, health, and legal experts for his radio show, he has amassed crucial real-world knowledge and quality of life recommendations that are the basis of these award-winning books.
“After positive feedback from the first edition, and talking with many families and professionals, I realized there were some topics that people needed to learn more about, said Greenberg. ”While I take a light-hearted look at serious topics, my goal is still to get people to think about things they may not have thought about before and how they want to live the rest of their life.”
Scott Greenberg is on a mission is to provide practical information and expert guidance to senior citizens and their families. Developing a clear plan to meet the medical, living, and emotional needs of a family member ensures that loved ones or caregivers will not be faced with crisis decision-making at a vulnerable time. Mr. Greenberg’s practical advice and real life anecdotes are invaluable to families and caregivers.
Long-term care, chronic illness, and funeral arrangements are not laughing matters. However, Mr. Greenberg manages to mix hard facts with a healthy dose of wit, and occasional irreverence. Chapter titles include, Going Out with a Bang: Sex After 60; 80 in the Left Lane Going 20; and We Take Too Many Damn Drugs, which add spice to the conversation and a bit of levity to lighten the weight of a sobering subject.
Brenda Star, President of StarGroup International, is thrilled that the book has received an Indie Book Award, stating, “Scott Greenberg’s book is surely worthy of this honor. He shares important and actionable advice that is relevant to a vast number of Americans, and his writing style makes a difficult subject matter more appealing.”
He is a popular and frequent speaker at industry conferences, seminars, non-profit organizations, community events, and senior communities.
