WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 5, 2017) – West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has been named the “Startup Business of the Year” as part of the South Florida Business Journal’s 2017 Business of the Year Awards program.  The Business of the Year Awards were created to ‘give recognition to those organizations that build the South Florida economy through solid business practice, dedication to our community and financial growth.’
“Our clients recognize the talent, experience and culture at Verdex, and it’s that combination that has helped us dramatically increase revenues since establishing the firm,” said Rex Kirby, President of Verdex Construction and a 35-year veteran of the construction industry. “When we talk about our brand as ‘Building Something Better,’ we’re not just talking about constructing buildings, but also deep attention to our clients, our team and our culture.”
Verdex began offering construction services in 2015, growing from an initial staff of 8 to 31 in 2016.  Revenue has grown from just under $2 million in 2015 to an expected $100 million plus in 2017. During this growth process, Verdex has also kept diversity as a core hiring practice since day one. In a male dominated industry, nearly 20% of Verdex’s workforce is female, including one on the four person executive team.
Verdex President Rex Kirby gives back to the community through involvement in both professional and charitable organizations including the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach County Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals, City of West Palm Beach Development Services Task Force, Associated General Contractors FL East Coast Chapter, Associated Builders and Contractors FL East Coast Chapter, and HomeSafe. Kirby was also named as a "Top 100 People to Know in Real Estate" by the South Florida Business Journal.
Verdex Construction provides general contracting services to clients including preconstruction, construction management, and design-build.  Verdex is committed to “Building Something Better” through exceptional service, a fundamental focus on safety and quality, agility and value to owners, customers and the community.
